The Process
Prior to First Appointment
We ask that anyone setting an appointment bring the following documents prior to the first appointment (preferred method) or upon coming in for your first appointment:
- Last years tax return
- Current investment account statements
- Complete summary of your current financial situation. We also offer a questionnaire to help you to list information that will help us concerning your financial situation for you to download on our website (click here)
- Life insurance statements (if applicable)
- Any other miscellaneous insurance or financial documents
Note: For liability reasons we will not be able to meet with a person unless a person provides written financial information, statement’s etc. either prior to first meeting or on the day of meeting.
Prior to the first appointment their will be a refundable deposit depending on the nature of the persons financial situation that will be required prior to the first appointment. Generally the deposit will be $250 - $500. The exact fee will be determined prior to the meeting based on the client’s situation.
What Can I Expect In The First Appointment?
The first approximate 30 minutes of the first appointment there will be no charge to allow for questions and answers about the process, method, capabilities or other areas you have questions about for you to feel comfortable to move forward with our firm to set up a plan or account. If after 30 minutes if both advisor and client feel comfortable to move forward the initial deposit will go toward the set up fees of an investment or financial plan. If after 30 minutes client or Investment Advisor/financial planner do not feel comfortable with moving forward, the initial deposit will be given back or refunded.
During the first meeting, once it is agreed by both parties to move forward, time in first meeting consist of:
- Questions to clarify information on financial questionnaire concerning assets and liabilities
- Questions to clarify client concerning investment accounts
- Questions to clarify clients investment goals for the future
- Review of risk and how to limit to accomplish client goals
- Review of client taxes and how to reduce them to accomplish goals
- Review of estate/asset distribution for surviving spouse and heirs
- Review of insurance including Life and Health in regards to future planning
- Review of future meetings and goals to accomplish goals
The above topics are an example of some areas covered, but other topics may apply depending on client goals and financial situation.
The amount of time for the first meeting generally averages between two and three hour
Fees Involved
After the first meeting we will design an investment/financial plan based on your needs and desires. A series of meetings will generally be required to lay out each aspect of the financial plan or set up each account. The Cost of setting up a Financial Plan or Investment Account can range from $250 to $1,000 per account depending on the complexity of the persons financial situation.
Subsequent Meetings
The meetings will involve what investments to use and type of account needed based on several factors including: proportion of each investment in portfolio, risk tolerance based on goals, distribution planning if needed, allocation of investments based on liquidity and growth needs, the best way to transfer funds based on types of accounts held, tax planning related to distribution planning or client growth on assets, tax planning relating to social security and other investment accounts, review of liability exposures in the future.
Other areas may involve looking into current life insurance policies, real estate properties, and other peripheral matters including taxes, current investment accounts held, health insurance issues, Long term care policy review or issues. The amount of time for each subsequent meeting generally averages between two and three hours.
